Hello!

My name is Devaughn McDonald and I’m an artist from Joliet, Illinois. I use traditional drawing and painting materials to create images reflecting on my everyday thoughts, dreams, experiences and faith. Mostly through self-portraiture, I aim to depict my deepest feelings in an honest way that I’m not always able to articulate verbally. In addition to self-portraits, I create pieces that feature real and imagined figures with the hope of telling stories of peace, ambition, yearning, and various other emotions that make up the human experience. My intention is to let these emotions come through just as much, if not more than the figure to allow viewers to get to know and go beyond the subject from a place of empathy.
